GRAFHAM 5TH SEPT 2020

I was out guiding with Kevin Gibson, Roy and Joe Hammond and Gary Kersey. The day started off with light breeze coming out of Savages. We started with the popper fly and had about 3 follows before I hooked a nice fish at The Stumps! It was not easy at first, which was confirmed by Al Owen who was out yesterday and had lots of fish but was fishless when we spoke a few hours in! Gary did really well on his own and got a lovely rainbow of about 3 three and a half pounds on a small blob. Well done Gary first trout and caught alone in the boat after just 20 mins casting on the bank! Unlucky Roy and Kevin who managed to hook a few but could not keep them in the boat… Roy you will have to improve your juggling skills! We moved down to Pig Bay with the 15 foot slow tip and foam backed daddies top and point with 2 hare’s ears on the middle droppers, fished with a variety of retrieves had a great 4 pounder in Pig’s and a few more pulls. We moved to B-buoy with not even a sniff! We then got to G-buoy and had a fish first cast, and Roy hooked into one as the net went under my fish. The fish were tight on G-buoy and just down wind, we managed to take 12 fish every time we got to ‘G’. The wind got up to about 15 miles an hour but brought the fish on. A great day with the boys, they all did well with their limited experience. Some lovely fish caught on the day. A special mention to Joe Hammond, as he landed 4 on his first attempt at fly fishing!
